About Brawl Blox:
As someone who has played this game ever since 2016, I was able to see the changes the game went through. Upon initial release, it looked very promising especially for a time where smash was the only dominant fighting game. Playing the game, it was fun to have a combo based fighting game but also making combos balanced with the option to dodge. However, in the state it has been in, it’s hard to ignore the issues the competitive scene may have. I’m sure if you are a brawlhalla player, you have probably complained about passive players at least once (even with not many hours). The dodge mechanic makes passive play awfully common and rewarding in this game. hardly even worth going in unless against significantly worse players. If you want a good visual of what I am talking about, literally watch ANY tournament not played by sandstorm or any other notoriously good players and the issue with dodge becomes more apparent. BMG has attempted to make dodge more balanced by increasing and reducing the cooldown on dodge dependent on if it’s grounded, air, etc. But it still haunts this game. Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely still ways to enjoy the competitive scene without playing passive but passive play is just sadly more rewarding in this game. Again, as for someone who has clocked nearly 800 hrs across multiple platforms, it’s hard for me to recommend this to newer fighting game players and even a few veterans.
