About Fate Xero:
Fate is a CLASSIC PC game made and published by the WildTangent team. Whether it was part of a free trial or we purchased it, I can distinctly recall playing this game on the family PC back in ye olde early 2000s-early 2010s. The graphics and audio may come off as outdated and clunky for those who are more accustomed to modern Dungeon Crawlers and adventure games such as Dark Souls or Elden Ring. However, this game truly holds a place in my heart. Starting with the story, you create your own character as to defeat a big bad dungeon boss that has been terrorizing the world. The story goes to the back burner a bit as you build and strengthen your character. With a wide selection of weapons , you can also choose if you’d like to be more magic based, physical, or focus on a combination of stats. You also will battle these enemies with your pet, of which can change its appearance and attacks/stats with the use of fish. As you strengthen your character, it can be a bit grindy as you upgrade your weapons and armor, take quests for money, as well as generally level up your character and strategically boost stats. Spoiler: you will likely die at some point as you go down into the deeper levels, lol. There is a linear progression of difficulty with the bosses, and you are able to teleport away from monster rushes, as well as send your pet to sell some of the goodies that you find. Discussing the dungeon element itself, each level is relatively random in design and drops (I believe), and the labyrinth layout ranges from more simple to more complex as you go down. I haven’t gotten to the end phases, however, 10 or levels will change stylistically in design. For example, you’ll go from the standard dungeon to a library themed dungeon and so on. The storage system is simple and practical.
